Past Mission Trips

NC Mission Trips

Our mission trip to the southeast following Hurricane Helene brought hope and relief to families devastated by flooding. Through hands-on support, we delivered flood bucket kits, assisted with cleanup and rebuilding efforts, and shared Christ’s love with those in need. Equipped with UMCOR Emergency Relief Training, our team worked tirelessly to provide aid and comfort, demonstrating the power of compassion and community in times of crisis.

Honduras Mission Trips

We support victims of disasters by sending Volunteer Teams to sites via the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) program. UMVIM notifies churches when teams are needed to work. But these trips are not about the work projects – they are about the people. They are God’s mission trips where team members are blessed by the people they meet.

In the last 18 years, Floris UMC has nationally sent more than 60 teams in response to disasters (hurricanes, tornadoes, and flooding). More than 600 Floris UMC volunteers have traveled to Mississippi, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, New Jersey, and New York. Three Floris UMC teams traveled to Kentucky and Florida in 2023.

Mission Resources

Financial Assistance

Floris UMC provides grants to church members and regularly attending adults selected to join a mission team. Financial assistance is based on resource availability, financial hardship and/or leadership role. Learn more and apply for financial assistance.

Leadership Training

Do you enjoy serving as a leader? Are you passionate about helping others? Then you are a good candidate to learn how to lead United Methodists Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) trips. Their missions support families impacted by natural disasters.
