Pride Alliance

Our vision is to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment. We affirm that every person is created in God’s image; all have worth, value and dignity. All are loved.

What is Pride Alliance at Floris UMC?

Pride Alliance is a community of people committed to providing an inclusive and affirming environment regardless of one’s sexual orientation and gender.

Pride Alliance provides recommendations for the consideration of the Floris UMC Church Council. We also support the implementation of approved proposals.

We are active in the current efforts within the United Methodist Church, seeking changes to discriminatory language and rules against clergy and others who identify as LGBTQ+.

The committee is available to support those in need of love, healing and acceptance.

Inclusion – We offer opportunities to those who identify as LGBTQ+ to participate in all activities in the life of the church.

Respect – We promote self-determination and equality to LGBTQ+ people, their families and allies.

Safety – We are a safe church and community. The mental, physical and spiritual safety of our church family and guests is considered paramount. Staff and volunteers are carefully vetted and trained to assist and support people of all orientations and identities.

Community – We welcome and offer friendship to everyone. We provide a place where you can get to know other LGBTQ+ Christians and their allies.

How can I get involved?

Come as you are, who you are, who you love. All are welcome. Worship is expressed in many different ways.

We encourage participation and involvement in all areas of the church. There are many volunteer opportunities in worship, grow and serve ministries. For more information, contact Pam Bentley, Engagement and Hospitality Coordinator, at pbently@florisumc.org.
