Started in 2011, this program was developed in response to concerns relating to gaps in enrichment and nutrition for students during the summer months. In previous years, students were selected by Hutchison Elementary staff based on recommendations from teachers. Teachers consider which students might benefit most from summer learning and enrichment. Hutchison staff works with families to ensure all registration documentation is completed.
Camp Hutchison is a camp collaboration between Hutchison Elementary School and Floris UMC. In 2018, we'll be serving the school and its students by assisting them with camps designed to target specific students. These mini-camps will run three-weeks, July 9-26, Monday-Thursday, 8:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Volunteers will serve as classroom assistants alongside Hutchison teachers to provide fun and engaging learning opportunities for students this summer. In addition, we'll also have an opportunity to share the power of reading with Hutchison students. "Summer Stories" will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from July 31-August 16, 1-2 p.m. The classroom teacher will read a story and provide a related craft.
