Get Involved

We have several opportunities for Floris UMC members and community organizations to partner with our ministry. Check below for our current opportunities to serve with Wesley Fellows!

Mentor a Fellow

A mentor is matched to a Wesley Fellow to establish a faith-based relationship with someone from within the congregation.  Throughout the nine months of the Fellows program, mentors and Fellows join together to share conversations and experiences that explore what it means to live out the Christian faith.

Mentors are adults who have a relationship with Jesus Christ, a willingness to share time with young professionals, and maintain regular involvement in the life of Floris United Methodist Church. Mentors are encouraged to maintain weekly contact with their Wesley Fellow, as well as arrange at least one monthly get-together. Mentors must authorize a background check and attend a mentor orientation meeting in August.

Host a Fellow

All Fellows live with host families during their program experience. Host families provide a loving, nurturing environment for each Fellow to flourish and explore their relationship with Christ in community and offer them a place to be and to become.

Families with space in their home and the resources to provide room and board for one or more Fellows from August-May are encouraged to apply. Adults in host families must authorize a background check and attend a host family orientation meeting in August.

Employ a Fellow

Though Fellows spend significant time in community with one another growing in Christian faith, most of their time each week is spent working in a part-time job related to their field of interest. If you have the capacity to employ a well-qualified woman or man of good character and solid work ethic who is committed to a healthy workplace environment and the betterment of their community, please contact Russ Corser and Dick Eagan.

Lead the Fellows

Several committed volunteers work together to make Wesley Fellows happen. If you have interest in leading and coordinating student recruitment, forming employer partnerships, recruiting and training host families and mentors, developing and implementing educational curriculum or shaping the Fellows' experience, contact Fellows Program Coordinator Jonathan Fuller to learn more about current opportunities to serve on the Wesley Fellows Leadership Team.
