Pam Piester

Executive Director

Pam Piester is the Executive Director at Floris United Methodist Church. Pam grew up in Northern Virginia, but left the area to attend college in Colorado. She returned to the Northern Virginia area one year after graduation and considers herself at home in this area. She has a BA in Political Science from the University of Colorado, in Boulder, Colorado, and has completed post-graduate coursework in accounting, economics, and management.

Pam is married to Matt and has three beautiful children and one very cute dog named Milby.

Pam began working at Floris UMC in May 2008. Under the strategic guidance of the Senior Pastor, Pam’s primary responsibility as the Executive Director of Floris is to manage all administrative and operational aspects of the church, including all programmatic ministry areas. Her job is to relieve the Senior Pastor of the administrative and operational duties associated with the day-to-day management of a large church so that the Senior Pastor can focus on casting the strategic vision for the church, as well as the pastoral duties of preaching, teaching, ministering to and growing the congregation.

• First job: Movie theater usher
• Pam’s idea of a perfect day: Pam loves to spend a Saturday watching all three of her children playing their favorite sport. Actually getting to see three games in one day is a real treat, especially if it’s basketball.
• Pam enjoys vacations and sporting activities with her family, and reading in her private time.

Erin Hickman - Accountant

Erin Hickman

Accountant

Erin grew up in Northern Virginia and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the College of William and Mary. Erin resides in Herndon with her husband, Paul, and puppy, Theo. She enjoys dancing, singing, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.

Erin is excited to join the staff at Floris United Methodist Church. She is primarily responsible for account reconciliation, payroll, and financial reporting and analysis.

Favorite Verse: Hebrews 11:1

Erin’s idea of a perfect day: Eating good food and watching movies with her husband.

Beverly Fife - Accountant

Beverly Fife

Accountant

Beverly was born in Germany and traveled around the world most of her life because of her father’s career as a chaplain in the U.S. Army. Tokyo in 2nd grade was most enlightening. After graduating from the University of Bridgeport, CT, she re-joined her family stationed in Germany where she met her husband (a Navy guy!). Now happily married for over 40 years, Beverly has two great sons and four beautiful grandchildren.

Beverly began working at Floris United Methodist Church as a temp in February 2011, and was brought on board in June as an employee. She is responsible for analyzing and improving accounting operations, preparing monthly department reports and account reconciliations, budgeting, researching and implementing new financially-related programs, and overseeing controls and quality assurance for financial transactions.

• First job: Shoe clerk at the Post Exchange in Stuttgart, Germany.
• Beverly’s idea of a perfect day: Riding a multitude of roller coasters, or photographing nature.

Karen Heier - Accounting Assistant

Karen Heier

Accounting Assistant

Karen Heier is the Accounting Assistant at Floris United Methodist Church. Karen grew up in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley until finishing college and moving to the Northern Virginia area. Karen has a B.A. in Rhetoric and Communication Studies from the University of Virginia. She currently lives in Herndon, VA with her husband and three daughters.

Karen began working at Floris in June of 2006. Her responsibilities include weekly accounting, invoicing and bookkeeping. Karen enjoys the opportunity to serve God through her work in the financial area of the church.

Favorite Bible Verse: Philippians 4:4-7

First job: Karen’s first job was as a waitress in her hometown.

Karen’s Idea of a Perfect Day:
Karen’s idea of a perfect day is spent outside playing a sport with her kids or in the mountains on a beautiful fall day.
