English as a Second Language
Floris United Methodist Church holds English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for the immigrant community at Hutchison Elementary School. Multi-level English classes are taught by Floris UMC volunteers on Tuesday and Thursday evenings through two 10-week sessions held annually.
Our mission in teaching ESL is to seek understanding and tolerance for cultural diversity through the language of faith by teaching English as a Second Language to our immigrant community, enabling our students to be full participants in church and society. If you have an interest in ministering to our immigrant community, we have an opportunity for you as teacher, assistant teacher, or as a registration or hospitality volunteer.
For our Winter 2014 session, classes will begin on January 21 and end on April 1.
