Contemplative Prayer
Practicing God's Presence
As part of Practicing God’s Presence, we enter into a holy time together during which we dedicate ourselves to nurturing our souls and sensing God’s presence within and beyond us.
Through a variety of ancient prayer practices, like contemplative prayer (quiet, guided meditative prayer) and other spiritual practices we practice moving beyond our thoughts, words, and emotions to silence our minds and create a sacred space to pray silently, listen deeply and commune intentionally with the Spirit. We reach beyond our need and ability to know God on an intellectual level relying on faith and trust to yield to God’s transforming love.
In addition to cultivating this personal relationship with God, we practice keeping ourselves centered on Christ through weekly exercises designed to help us 1) “pray without ceasing”, 2) experience the sacredness in all of life including our everyday activities, 3) intercede and counteract our thoughts to rely on our hearts and God as new control centers, and 4) live and share with others a life rooted in Christ-like love.
