Come Join Us!
Chimers
Rehearsal: Wednesday night 7:15-7:45 PM
Where: Floris UMC
Who: Kindergarten – 3rd Grade
Contact: Laura Shelton
Chimers are the youngest of the handbell ministry groups. We use handchimes, verse handbells as they are lighter, easier for little hands to control and are not as fragile as the bells. We play in worship once a month and participate in the children’s concerts at Christmas and in the Spring.
There is no musical ability required, your little person can join us at any time during the school year.
Hosanna Ringers
Rehearsal: Thursday night 6-6:45 PM
Where: Floris UMC
Who: 3rd Grade – 6th Grade and up through Adults
Contact: Laura Shelton
Hosanna is our youngest handbell choir. We participate in worship every 4-6 weeks as well as the Christmas and Spring Children’s concerts. We also try to attend at least one off-site festival event each year.
We are a beginning handbell choir so we begin our music reading in the Hosanna Ringers. No musical experience is required. We have both kids and adults in this group. It is a very lively atmosphere and a great place to start if you are very new to handbells and don’t read music. All ages are welcome.
Alleluia Ringers
Rehearsal: Thursday night 7 - 8 PM
Where: Floris UMC
Who: 6th Grade – 8th Grade and up through Adults
Contact: Laura Shelton
Alleluia Ringers are the younger intermediate level handbell group at Floris. We participate in worship once a month and attend an off-site (overnight) festival each fall. We also participate in the Christmas and Spring Children’s Concerts.
As we are an intermediate level group a basic knowledge of music is helpful, but that is not required. Middle school through adult are welcome in this group.
Jubilate Ringers
Rehearsal: Tuesday 6:30 - 8 PM
Where: Floris UMC
Who: High School and Adult
Contact: Scott Glysson
Jubilate Ringers are Floris’ intermediate/advanced handbell group. We participate in worship once a month and on special occasions. We also present a Christmas Concert as well as a Spring Dessert Concert. We travel once a year for an over night off-site festival event. As times and schedules allow we play concerts at off-site locations as well.
Being an intermediate/advanced group, it REALLY helps if you read music. We do not discourage anyone from joining as we are ready to help you learn to read and ring. This group is a strong mix of high school and Adult Ringers.
Laudate Ringers
Rehearsal: Tuesday 8 - 9:30 PM
Where: Floris UMC
Who: High School and Adult
Contact: Laura Shelton
Laudate Ringers is Floris’ advanced handbell group. We participate in worship once a month and on special occasions. We also present a Christmas Concert as well as a Spring Dessert Concert. We participate in various festival events both local and out of town (overnight). As time and schedules allow we play concerts at off-site locations as well.
Music reading is VERY helpful in this group. We do not discourage anyone, but you will find this group a real challenge if you do not read music. We ARE willing to teach!
